Nashua cab driver helps 10 building residents escape from fire

A Nashua cab driver helped around a dozen people along with a dog by taking them out of two burning apartments on Vine Street Sunday morning.

Frank Figeuroa, a 52-year-old resident of the Gate City, said he saw a lot of smoke coming from the building at 25 Vine St. at around 7:20 a.m. He started yelling into the radio ‘Fire! Fire! Fire!’ and immediately pulled over and rushed towards the building.

Munificent donations from members of the public gave a trio of abandoned dogs in Nashua a new lease of life by covering costs of surgeries they needed to get rid of life-threatening ailments.

The three dogs, viz. Lily, Diamond, and Kit Kat, are now on the path to recovery following their surgeries. All the three were brought to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua with some really serious illnesses a few weeks back.

Three shelter dogs in Nashua that required medical care before becoming available for adoption got a big step closer on the path of their adoption, thanks to generous donations from the public.

The Humane Society for Greater Nashua said the trio needed surgeries. So, it launched a GoFundme page to raise money for the dogs. Many people came forward to help the animals, raising $11,815 of a $15,000 that was set as goal by the society.

A 28-year-old Nashua man was taken into custody and charged with heroin possession on Monday after several people reported that a man driving a truck in the area had a needle in his hand.

After receiving several calls that a man with a needle in his hand was driving in the Amoskeag Rotary area, Officer Ryan Boynton located the truck in the area of Pine Street and Lake Avenue at around 4:20 p. m., half an hour after receiving the initial call.

The driver of the 2002 black GMC Sonoma, identified as John Lozeau of 21 Ferson St., Nashua, was pulled over for failing to use a turn signal.

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) on Monday named a total of seven top-tier defense equipment makers as suppliers for the under-development Northrop Grumman B-21 bomber.

USAF Secretary Deborah Lee James named Pratt & Whitney, BAE Systems, Spirit Aerosystems, Orbital ATK, Rockwell Collins, GKN Aerospace and Janicki Industries as the suppliers for the new bomber.

East Hartford, Connecticut-based Pratt & Whitney is United Technologies-owned military engines manufacturer. It already powers the U.S. military’s combat aircraft Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

Katlyn Marin, a Nashua woman accused of killing her own 3-year-old daughter, had used heroin on the night of the alleged crime, new documents filed with the Hillsborough County Superior Court alleged.

Marin, 26, was charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter for purportedly assaulted her little daughter Brielle Gage multiple times on 24th and 25th of November 2014 at their home on Oak Street.

BAE Systems to create up to 300 new jobs in Nashua

BAE Systems, British multinational that develops delivers and supports advanced defence, security and aerospace systems, has announced plans for creating up to 300 new manufacturing jobs in Nashua.

The London-headquartered multinational company will create the new jobs under a proposal designed to add four parcels to the already existing Spit Brook Road Economic Revitalization Zone.

Kim Cadorette, director of operations at BAE Systems, said that the company was in aphase of growth and it wanted to invest.
